ProZinc ™ (protamine zinc recombinant human insulin)

Diet and exercise

The right nutrition at the right time

Be sure to discuss your cat's nutritional needs with your veterinarian. You may be advised to restrict or limit certain foods that are currently a part of your cat's diet. Your veterinarian may even recommend a special food formulated for cats with diabetes.

The type and amount of food your cat eats is very important, and so is the time your cat eats. All insulins, including PROZINC, will work best to regulate your cat's blood glucose when you keep your cat's feedings as close to the same time each day as you can.

If possible, it is also helpful to note how much water your cat drinks each day. Ensure that your cat ALWAYS has access to clean, fresh water.

Regular exercise and play

For a cat with diabetes, exercise can make a difference in maintaining a healthy blood glucose level. Like feeding, exercise should happen consistently every day.

If your cat is not very active, your veterinarian can offer ways to help you get your cat moving.
