I had my cat Carson for 11 years and never had any health issues with him. He is an indoor cat and loves cuddling with his mommy :) I noticed 2 years ago that he was drinking A LOT of water and that he wasn't able to jump on the bed anymore. His back legs didn't seem to want to move well. I told my sister of his symptoms and she said it sounded like the same that her cat had the year prior. The vet had diagnosed her cat (who happens to be my cat's father) with diabetes. I took Carson to the vet and it turns out his levels were WAY off and he had diabetes too. At first I was scared of hurting him when giving him the insulin injections; I'm not a fan of needles myself. But within a week I noticed he barely felt it and within 2 weeks I saw MAJOR differnces in his mobility and eating/drinking habits. His levels have gone done over the past year since I now monitor how much he eats and I give him diabetic food. He literally runs up to me and turns around to give me his shoulder when it is time to give him his shot. Such a good boy! I hope to get to the point where he will not need it anymore. He is 13 years old now and I want him around ANOTHER 13 years :)

About 2 months ago, my cat Kato was not eating and was not acting like himself. I took him to the vet where they took blood and diagnosed with diabetes (his blood work was 520) I had thought I might have to put him to sleep because of the care and cost of hospitalization. Since I was a vet assistant many years ago I had no problem with giving him fluids or insulin. Within 30 minutes of giving him his injection of ProZinc he started eating. For the next week I gave him 100 to 200cc of fluids and 2ml of insulin 2 times a day. I tested his blood everyday. I had to raise his insulin to 4ml after his blood readings were not coming down to a normal level. It went from 520 to 325 to 175 to 100 to 80 in a matter of 10 days. He is playing more now and eats 2 times a day canned food and or tuna. He still drinks a lot of water but he has always since he was a kitten. I have him on all natural food (Blue Buffalo canned and dry) Which he has been on for about 3 years.

My cat was diganosed with diabetes last Monday night. He has lost about 3-4 pounds over a couple months although he still had a great appetite. His water intake was slightly increased but he was not excessively drinking or urinating. He was started on Lantus insulin for a few days while we waited for his bottle of ProZinc to come. He has now been receiving ProZinc for 5 days and is doing great. He is receiving 1.5 units twice daily. He will be having a glucose curve next week to check his insulin dose. The syringes are very easy to read and I even got a sample syringe container which my whole family loves!

I had to switch my cat to ProZinc 2 months ago when the insulin I had previously used ceased production. He transitioned easily with no glitched or problems. The good news it that I can now manage Casey's diabetes with one injection every 24 hours as opposed to the previous injections given twice a day. This helps me personally as it opens up my spare time. Plus, he's doing great. Thanks to ProZinc.

Pumpkin had her first insulin curve 5/12/10 and we are using 1 unit twice a day. We were using 2 units twice a day of PZI Vet. We are staying at 1 unit and will do another insulin curve on 5/27/10. Getting pumpkin stabled on the PZI was a NIGHTMARE! ProZinc so far has been a cake walk.

Prozinc has been absolutely amazing. For the past year, we've been unable to keep our girl regulated which has been frustrating and upsetting for the whole family. After experiencing wild swings with a previous insulin (that was being discontinued for this problem) we were switched to Prozinc. We started out at 2 units BID and shortly after went to 2 units TID because her fluctuations were still so wild. She started responding very well after a few weeks. About 6 weeks in, I noticed her numbers were off again and I wasn't able to shoot at her usual schedule. To make a long story short, over the last 3 weeks, we've gone from 2 units TID to .1 units BID. Her response to this insulin is fantastic. She looks better, is feeling better and her I-Stat's are coming back with improved numbers now that she's regulated. We are able to keep her under 200 all day with the majority of her day under 150. The only problem we have now is my ability to accurately administer a .1 dose. Thanks so much!

I am so lucky to have such a wonderful cat. He really lets me give him his insulin very easy. He actually likes when it is time for insulin. I make it fun and get a soft rug and he lays on it and I comb him and he does not even feel it. I am waiting for the day that he will not need insulin. Sure hope we can get his levels where we want them?

Barry has been on ProZinc for about 3-4 months so far. This is the only medication that has worked on him. He still working on being regulated but seems to be doing better now then ever while on ProZinc.
